There are two types of vocational training

Vocational training 

  • Accessible: After more than 10 or 11 years of study from the first year of elementary school;
  • Specifics: It prepares students for the job market by teaching them a specialized trade based on the needs of companies;
  • Duration: 12 to 24 months full time;
  • Institutions that offer this training: Vocational training centres;
  • Targeted diploma: DEP (diplôme d’études professionnelles): Diploma of Vocational Studies issued by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec. 

Short-term vocational training

  • Accessible: After more than 10 or 11 years of study from the first year of elementary school; however, to access this training, you must hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (diplôme d’études professionnelles – DEP);
  • Specifics: It prepares students for the job market by teaching them a specialized trade based on the needs of companies;
  • Duration: 3 to 6 months full time;
  • Institutions that offer this training: Vocational training centres;
  • Targeted diploma: ASP (attestation de spécialisation professionnelle): Attestation of Vocational Specialization. 

Cost of registration for vocational studies

  • The following is an estimate of the average annual tuition fees, not including related fees (learning guide, equipment, tools, etc.):
  • Students of French nationality: free of charge, in accordance with the agreement signed in 2001 between Quebec and France;
  • Non-French students: between $10,000 and $25,000 (CAD).
